Development in the First Ten Years of Life: Bring your teaching to life! Want to grab your students' attention, engage their sense of wonder, and stimulate class discussion? Illustrate your teaching points using this innovative trigger videotape! Created by an award-winning teacher, this rich resource delivers a diverse, enjoyable selection of snippets from one child's ten-year development. There is no voice-over narration: these are short "visual anecdotes" that you can use any way you choose. The film is designed to be equally useful whether shown in segments or in its entirety, at the instructor's discretion. The tape log lists each segment's starting time (making it simple to locate in VHS format), and suggests ideas for discussion. The DVD needs no fast-forwarding-just use the menu to immediately access any clip! There are no other videotapes currently available for use in teaching normal development that follow the growth of one child longitudinally. This videotape has been created specifically to fill this gap by a child and adolescent psychiatrist who has taught normal development to psychiatry residents since 1987. The film provides enjoyable, classroom-tested examples of one child's development in the realms of temperament, cognition, morality, gross and fine motor activity, verbal ability, attachment, separation-individuation, normal anxiety, etc., utilizing both formal and informal assessment and observation. Academic, social, and family arenas are addressed, including peer group interaction, sibling issues and parenting techniques.
