Dr. De Leon graduated from Cayetano Heredia University in Lima and completed his residency in Psychiatry at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. He completed a fellowship in Community Psychiatry at the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute, and a fellowship in Neuropsychiatry at University of Illinois Hospital. He is a Board certified psychiatrist and a Life Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He was the recipient of the Merton Gill Award for excellence in mentorship and teaching three consecutive years (2001, 2002, and 2003).
