Dementias
Dementia is a constellation of symptoms
Criteria: a) memory and at least one other cognitive impairment present and b) each causes dysfunction
Most common etiologies:
- Neurodegenerative: Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease, and Cerebrovascular disease
- Environmental: Alcohol/Substances, head trauma
- Infectious: HIV, Syphilis, Creutzfeldt-Jacob
- Metabolic: B-12 deficiency
- Neoplastic
