Group Therapy Program Referral Information

 

Community Reintegration Program
(Leader: Carrie Meo
Structured psychiatric day program with flexible scheduling Mon., Tu., Th., Fri. Offers a variety of groups, social and recreational activities for persons with severe and persistent psychiatric illness.

Depression and Chronic Medical Illness Group
Leader: Pat Smith, MS, CS, 6-7707
Tuesdays,1:00-2:15 PM, 5th Flr. NPI-S
Supportive/cognitive group for adults with depression and concomitant chronic physical illness.

Insight-Oriented Group
Leaders: J. Anderson, Ph.D., 6-8770
Mondays, 5:30- 6:45 PM, Rm. 633, NPI-S
Same format as the above group, but held during evening hours to accommodate patients who are unable to attend during the day due to work or school commitments.

Insight-Oriented Group (Evening)

Mondays, 5:30- 6:45 PM
Same format as the above group, but held during evening hours to accommodate patients who are unable to attend during the day due to work or school commitments.

Multiple Family Group -

Thursdays 6- 7 PM
Psychoeducational/Support Group for patients experiencing a a first psychotic break, and their families. (Families may attend with or without their ill relative).

Schizoaffective Group
Leaders: P. Smith, MS, CS, 6-7707,
Wednesdays, 3:00 - 4:15 PM, 5th Flr., NPI-S
Support for socially isolated patients with schizoaffective illness.

Supportive Socialization Group
Leader: Edward Byars, B.A.
Wednesdays, 9:30-10:30 AM
Group focus on socialization, support and problem solving for patients with chronic psychiatric illness. Provides a supportive milieu to maintain stabilization of symptoms and address early signs of relapse.

Symptom Management Group
Leaders: Cherise Rosen, MA
Thursdays, 10:15 – 11 AM, (1st episode pts.)
Thursdays, 2:00 – 2:45 PM, (w/R. Marvin, MD.)

A structured group for patients experiencing their first episode (Th. AM) and pts suffering from chronic mental illness (Th. PM) better identify/manage psychiatric symptoms, improve functioning, and develop social skills.

Supportive Women's Groups
Leader: Jill Anderson, PhD, CNS: 6-8770
Tuesdays, 9:45-11:00 AM, Rm. 633, NPI-S
Fridays, 10:30-11:45 AM, Rm. 633, NPI-S
Issues of assertiveness, self-esteem and co-dependency in a supportive, problem- solving setting. Regular attendance required.

Weight Loss Group
Leader: Mark Schneiderhan, PharmD

Tuesdays: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
For patients experiencing medication-related weight gain as an
adverse effect of pharmacological treatment.
