The University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Psychiatry, provides mental health services as part of the University of Illinois Medical Center. The Department of Psychiatry, offers a continuum of services including: inpatient, community reintegration, intensive outpatient and outpatient. We have five separate programs that focus on major mental illness: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Neurobehavioral Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, and Women's Mental Health. The department is staffed by Board Certified psychiatrists, Licensed Clinical Psychologists, Doctors of Social Work, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Nurses with both doctorates and master's degrees, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Occupational Therapists, a Board Certified Music Therapist, Licensed Marital and Family Therapists. With this highly trained group of professionals, the Department of Psychiatry provides 63,000 outpatient visits and 14,000 inpatient visits each year. The Department of Psychiatry accepts Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial Insurance, and is on the panel of many of the major managed care companies.
