Goal 1: To characterize the relationship between the SLC6A4 5HTTLPR and BDNF Val66Met variants with cognitive and affective circuitry dysfunction in PBD.
Goal 2: To determine whether changes in clinical symptoms, brain function, and cognitive performance seen after lithium treatment differ across 5HTTLPR and BDNF genotype groups.
Goal 3: To conduct a discovery set GWAS analysis of targeted fMRI and eye movement phenotypes to identify additional genetic contributors to cognitive processing and treatment response to Li+ in PBD.
