Fellows > Navid Rashid, M.D.

Navid Rashid, M.D. was raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and went to college and medical school at The George Washington University in Washington DC. At UIC, he is currently one of the chief residents and due to graduate from residency training in psychiatry in 2004. He will go on to begin a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Georgetown University.

Dr. Navid's work as an ICORC fellow is an outgrowth of his interest in the relationship between spirituality and psychiatry. He is currently doing qualitative research to investigate approaches of religious professionals (primarily clergy and chaplains) to the understanding and treatment of trauma. It is hoped that this will help to establish a more collaborative stance between religion and mental health, which may eventually impact preparedness and delivery of better coordinated services in the context of responding to catastrophe.
