Dr. Toya Clay grew up in Springfield, Illinois. She attended Yale College and received her Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Clay completed a residency in general psychiatry at Columbia University in New York City and completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She is Board Certified in general psychiatry. Dr. Clay was selected as the 2006 American Psychiatric Association (APA) Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellow and served as the mental health legislative fellow for Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. She has been an active member of the APA and has chaired and participated in multiple presentations in the area of mental health advocacy. Dr. Clay defines herself as a clinician-advocate committed to providing the highest quality direct care and consultative services, as well as improving systems of care through collaborative efforts, mental health policy and program development.
