Amy Starin, PhD, LCSW

Assistant Professor of Clinical Research

Dr Starin is a clinical social worker with over 25 years experience in children’s mental health. She has experience as a clinician, teacher, administrator, program and policy developer and researcher. She has held leadership positions in community mental health centers, psychiatric hospitals and State public mental health systems for children. Dr Starin’s work has focused on child and family therapies, home based care for families and children with psychotic disorders, development and dissemination of evidence informed practice, monitoring outcomes of services, using measurement in clinical care, consumer parent support, and Systems of Care development.

Interests:

Prevention and early intervention of mental health problems in children; interventions for families of children with serious emotional disturbance; consumer delivered services; Family Driven Care; Support for Community Mental Health agencies related to implementing evidence informed practice; Community implementation of Evidence Based Practices.

Projects:

Development of a consumer/community member delivered mental health prevention and early intervention evidence based model for children in school settings. Consultation to the Illinois Division of Mental Health on evidence informed practice and system development. Consultation to Community Mental Health agencies and System of Care projects.
