Joshua Nathan, MD, FAPA

Dr. Nathan is the Director of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program, Medical Director of the Community Reintegration Program, and an assistant professor of clinical psychiatry. He is a specialist in diagnosing and treating depression, bipolar disorder and several anxiety. He is also expert in adult ADHD and HIV psychiatry. He has extensive psychotherapy training and experience. In addition to patient care, he teaches extensively in the medical school and psychiatry residency.

Clinical Interests:
Mood and anxiety disorders; Individual psychodynamic and supportive psychotherapy; Adult ADHD; HIV and mental health; Psychiatric care of inmates; young adult (age 18-25) and general adult psychiatry;

Academic Interests:
Resident and medical student education and supervision; empathy in clinical education; psychiatry and media

Projects:
C.A.R.E.S.: Clinicians Acting to Reinforce Empathic Skill - Empathy development workshop; supported by the UIC Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) Curriculum and Instructional Grant (CIG); and by the Department of Psychiatry
