Clinical Services at the PSADC

Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation

  • Comprehensive diagnostic assessment for children & adolescents with stress & anxiety
  • Evaluation includes questionnaires completed by child, parents & teachers
  • Evaluation includes interviews with parents & child using state-of-the art diagnostic tools
  • Evaluation includes assessment & treatment planning for commonly co-occurring disorders such as ADHD and depression

 

Multidisciplinary Team Approach to Treatment Planning

  • Treatment planning by a multidisciplinary team of anxiety experts to fit individual needs of the child and family
  • Evidence-based treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (for OCD)
  • Range of treatment modalities: individual & family CBT, group therapy, family therapy, parent guidance, professional consultations, school interventions, community education, and medications

 

Serving Diverse Youth

  • A unique resource for youth with anxiety disorders in the Chicago area, Illinois, and the Midwest
  • Youth served are diverse in age, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and geographic location (urban, suburban, rural)
  • Serves children and adolescents with a range of comorbid conditions including chronic medical illnesses, developmental disabilities, mood disorders, ADHD

 

Education and Training

  • Committed to education and training in prevention, early identification, assessment, and treatment of anxiety disorders in youth
  • Education and training at UIC and in the community
  • Training emphasizes evidence-based practices and practical applications
  • Parent and child psycho-education are an integral part of the program

Supplemental Services Available to Families in the Pediatric Stress and Anxiety Disorders Clinic

In addition, clinical staff members can provide the following supplemental services on a fee-for-service basis.*

  1. Participation in school conferences on site
  2. Classroom observations
  3. Consultation with school personnel on site
  4. Participation in school conferences over the phone
  5. Detailed report of clinic evaluation or treatment
  6. Lengthy phone conversations with family members
  7. Phone consultations with service providers outside clinic
  8. Group presentations (e.g., at child’s school, parent support group, PTO) regarding children with particular diagnoses and treatment needs.

* Not covered by insurance so families would be responsible to pay for services. Families can check with therapist for more specific information.
